Introduction of the TeacherFusion website
Went in to this website and set up personal profiles. Reviewed a slide show presentation on how to move around in school fusion. Continued to examine all the areas on the website.
January 27, 2011 4:10-5:40 pm (1.5 hrs)
Researched different ways to use a Wiki. Visited some sites that gave me some ideas on how to use Wikis for library information. Found some great websites to investigate. Some wikis showed how to use them with novel studies and technology areas.
February 10, 2011 4:10-5:40 pm ( 1.5 hrs)
Molly showed everyone some different things on the SMART board. Everyone was able to try different things. Information was good, however, since I do not have a SMART board, the information does not pertain to me. I did not have enough experience with SMART boards to understand some of the information that was introduced.
February 28, 2011 4:00-6:00 pm (2 hrs)
This is a make up class for the time that I missed on January 28, 2011. Marcia shared with us the Nine Themes of Digital Citizenship. We talked about the Family Contract that both the kids and their parents can sign. This contract is designed to help children be safe on the Internet. We, also, were introduced to Kidspiration and Inspiration. We learned some different things to have students do in both programs. We experimented with Kidspiration. Marcia showed us a new website called Storybird.com. Students can create their own books by writing a original story. They can choose illustrations from a wide variety of pictures to enhance their stories. Looks like a fun and engaging website for students to use. Teachers could even have the whole class create a story with illustrations using their SMART boards.
March 2, 2011 4:00-6:00 pm (2 hrs)
Marcia introduced us to several websites that could help students with math, reading and writing. Some of the sites were IXL.com-math, Thesarus, filamentality.com-format for forms, surveymonkey.com-can set up meeting times with others, doodle.com-organizes meeting times, etc. We, also, played with a new digital camera to see how it works.
March 4, 2011 8:00-12:00 (4 hrs)
Introduce to the new program MYOn.com reading site sponsored by Capstone Press. Program is designed to have students read books at their interest levels and reading levels. This program has benchmark tests to monitor students progress. This program looks like it will compliment both the Accelerated Reader and Read Naturally. The nice part is students can do it at home as well as school.
